Hello Thomas Fans - All of us at Fun To Learn Thomas & Friends Magazine love to hear your comments, thoughts and suggestions. You may be wondering why I've only rated the magazine 4 stars! That's because we are always striving to make each issue better than the last. With your feedback, this will be achieved. Thank you for supporting Fun To Learn Thomas & Friends Magazine. Sue Porritt, Editor.
Rating: - The kids love it! It is a workbook with ads.
This is a colorful workbook, albeit short. Each issue has a theme, for example 'backwards and forwards'. There is one read aloud short story. There are activities such as count the number of Thomas and train related items and then write in the number. There are puzzles such as mazes that can help with the development of fine motor skills required for writing. There are some puzzle type activities such as 'look at this and study it then turn the page and see what you remember' and there are coloring-in pages. There are several areas where writing with a tracing method is done, with those little arrows that show the child how to write. This is a short workbook but very colorful and all Thomas related. If your child likes these types of activities and workbooks and loves Thomas, this is great! The downside is that it does contain advertising of Thomas related toys, items, and decorative accessories. These ads have already lead to 'the gimme's'. I would prefer if this were a true bi-monthly workbook without advertisement. (I guess that is why it is called a magazine instead of a workbook?) Compared to the cost of other, longer, non-Thomas workbooks, this is much more costly. Despite my personal opinions my 2 year-old and my 4 year-old both want to be the one carrying it all around and in just two days it is already dog-eared! They love it!
Rating: - Wow!
My grandson received his first copy of this magazine and enjoyed it so much he took it with him wherever he went for several days. It's a great learning tool, and the activities included in the magazine are suitable for preschool children!
