Average Rating: Rating: - Part of my childhood My Grandmother and Gradfather were antique dealers from back east. Grandpa was a refinisher and a dealer with his own shop in spots like Worchester, Mass. and later Santa Cruz, CA. I was always surrounded by the most beautiful pieces of craftsmanship I (still) have ever seen. My Grandfather loved this magazine! He had a copy (and the newspaper as backup)in front of him every morning at 5:00 a.m. as he drank his coffe and ate his plain donuts :) This magazine is elegant, interesting and informative to say the least. As for it only showing American pieces...but of course, America has turned out some of the greatest work! Our woods are not to be beat! I agree with the previous reviewer regarding the tantalizing ads in the back...if only I could win the lottery. Then I could buy everything advertised and a showplace to display them all. Rating: - The Magazine for collectors of American antiques This is the grandaddy of antiques magazines. Collectors of American decorative arts have been reading this periodical for over two generations. It is true that the focus is on American furniture, however each year there are issues focused on international antiques and England in particular. The magazine is elegantly designed, and articles are lushly illustrated. However, by far the most important part of this magazine is the advertisements placed by the top dealers in Americana. This is where you can see furniture you can only dream of owning.
