Rating: - Mens Mag- I am a Lesbian
Out and Advocate are for Gay men.Due to sales ratings, they may be catering to women now. I used to subscribe to both. They are very into Image and Non Issues and are just as sexist as many mainstream publications. How about Curve or Girlfriends as an alternative? Thanks. Kat.
Rating: - What I am seeking in a gay mag
Ok ok.. the hot studs and fashion trends where nice when I was young but, now at the age of 29 and in a commited relationship those types of mags lose there importance and mags like advocate become the staple of life.I have always read the advocate for it's outstanding articles and issues that mean something to us as a LGBT world. But, now i read it even more to see which of my rights as a couple are being challenged and how to combat hate based on my choice of partner.. The advocate provides this and more.. And gets a A++ rating in my book!
Rating: - I read every issue COVER TO COVER!
I've been a subscriber to The Advocate for several years, and no other gay periodical covers the GLBT community on a nationwide/international basis better! While some cover stories occasionally come across as "fluffy" or sensationalistic (the Anne Heche story comes to mind), for the most part, the Advocate does an A++ job every month of offering its readers a wide mix of current events, politics, culture, humor and some excellent in-depth reporting. The book, movie and music reviews don't just highlight the current flavor of the month among the critics, but also introduce new and upcoming artists, writers and musicians I may not have heard of yet. For me the most fabulous part of every issue is BRUCE VILANCH'S op-ed piece that I have to read at a minimum 4 or 5 times before I pass it along to friends. HOPEFULLY HOPEFULLY Bruce is reading this now, and working on a collection to be found in our local GLBT bookstores very soon, to be followed by his national tour! If you're not subscribing, you're missing out on some of the best GLBT writing there is today!
