Rating: - Teen People - Awesome for teens AND parents
I'm not a teen and I'm not a parent but I subscribed to Teen People just to see what it was all about before I gave it as gifts to some young adult friends. I think this magazine is awesome. I'll admit my bias to being a People subscriber, but in Teen People I've found that in addition to being a fun read, they cover difficult topics in a very teen-appropriate way. The articles (yes, there are articles!) provoke thinking and could stimulate important conversations with parents and teens, as well as between teens and their peers. Past issues have had 'day-in-the-life' articles about race issues at school, the realities of being a teen parent (a must read for abstinence!) and coping with the death of a parent. Sounds heavy and depressing but the topics were well-covered and points well-read. Of course Teen People comes with all of the celebrity photos, fashion and gossip of regular People, so you can also read it to just escape. But the magazine is well-balanced to provide reading for fun and reading for life learning. I really think it's awesome!
Rating: - The Essential Teen Magazine
Whether you're a fan of movies, music, clothes, makeup or just any assorted interesting gossip, where would you turn? People Magazine, to be certain! The same is true for teenagers, and Teen People is just for us! With monthly focus on a hot musical group/singer or Hollywood heartthrob, the magazine keeps its audience varied. With its inspiring stories of movers and shakers (teens with their own home businesses, teen writers, teen artists and more), it also encourages dream subtly. I couldn't live without my monthly copy of Teen People, how else do you learn if Britney Spears' live performance was da bomb or a bust? How would I keep up on my celebrity stats with a reader-friendly format, advertisements for all the newest products and teen books and even where I can get some of my writing published? Teen People is one magazine well worth reading.
Rating: - One of my favorites
I enjoy receiving Teen People - I have every issue ever printed, and over the past few years, Teen People has become more news-oriented, concerning teenagers with issues that affect them. This, combined with the usual entertainment news, makes for a nice hot-cold combination. It's hard to pitch one magazine over another because everyone has different preferences. Myself, I don't like Seventeen (too much fashion and too many pictures of models) and stopped my subscription several months ago. I enjoy YM, CosmoGirl! and Teen People the most. I also subscribe to J-14 though.
